TRAVEL

Uppsala is easily reached by flight, train and coaches. Stockholm Arlanda airport is the closest airport, situated approximately 35 km south of Uppsala. Public transport runs between Uppsala and Arlanda frequently, and includes buses, trains and taxis. Depending on the mode of transport you use, it will take between 20 and 45 minutes to travel from Arlanda to Uppsala. If you would like to take the train from Arlanda to Uppsala, you can purchase tickets from the SJ national train company website https://www.sj.se/en/home.html#/, or at the tourist information and train ticket office at the airport. Tickets will cost approximately SEK 175 - 210. For more information, please visit the SJ website or the Uppsala local public traffic company UL https://www.ul.se/en.

You can also take bus number 801 from Arlanda to Uppsala, which will cost you approximately SEK 100. Tickets can be purchased at the Arlanda Visitor Centre located in Terminal 5, or at information desks in Terminal 2 and Terminal 4. Alternatively, tickets may be purchased on board (please note that only card payment is accepted on board). The bus runs regularly during night time as well. Uppsala Taxi (https://www.uppsalataxi.se/no_cache/en/) offers a fixed price for passengers travelling from Arlanda to Uppsala. They charge approximately SEK 500. You can find a variety of different taxi companies in the taxi area outside of the airport.

The temporary entry ban to Sweden was lifted on 1 April, 2022. Foreign nationals entering Sweden no longer need to present a negative Covid-19 test, proof of vaccination, or proof of recovery. It is possible that the regulations will change before the conference. ACCOMODATION

The conference has not made any deals with particular hotels. Uppsala has a large variety of hotels in all price ranges, and July is not typically the busiest season. You may still want to book early. We recommend using any of the accommodation listing sites, such as Hotels.com or Booking.com.
A standard hotel room will cost around 900 - 1 200 SEK per night, while cheaper options like hostels range from 500 - 700 SEK per night.

FOOD AND DRINK

All food and drinks during the sessions in the day is included in the conference registration. Our caterers are able to accommodate a variety of food allergies and intolerances, but they will need to know these in advance. Please list any allergens upon registration, or contact medren2022-musik@uu.se separately as soon as possible.
In the evenings, you may choose between Uppsala’s choice of restaurants, cafés and pubs in the city centre or the university campus areas. The choice covers all ranges from fast food to fine cuisine, including food from most parts of the world, as well as Swedish specialties. Most restaurants will offer options for participants with food allergies.

A number of restaurants that may be recommended for evening meals (there are also many other options):

CONFERENCE VENUES

The conference takes place in the main University Building (Biskopsgatan 3). Here the lunches and refreshments are served throughout the conference. You will find restrooms on both floors.
The concerts take place at Uppsala Cathedral (Adress: Domkyrkoplan).
The conference dinner is held in Uppsala Castle (At the end of Drottning Christinas väg).

ACCESSIBILITY

The Main university building, the Cathedral and the Castle all have access via elevators and ramps.

DIGITAL GUIDELINES

Med Ren 50 is a hybrid conference where papers given on-site and those given digitally will be integrated into the same sessions. The digital platform Zoom will be used. You will not need to install anything in order to attend a session digitally, just use the login details and passwords given for each session. All sessions will be recorded and be available for viewing (for registered conference participants only) for the duration of the conference.

Please do not record live or recorded talks, or makes screenshots of live or recorded talks. Do not share the password to Zoom meetings with non-participants.

COVID RESTRICTIONS

As of April 2022, Sweden has no special restrictions as regards public transport, hotels, restaurants and public spaces, but one is encouraged to stay away from such areas if contracted by symptoms of covid-19.

Since there are no governmental restrictions, we cannot impose a conference mask mandate. However, we encourage mask-wearing in crowded conference spaces as a measure of care for our fellow delegates.
